Part of why I love doing what I do is all the incredible opportunities that come with it. I wanted to take you through just a few of the things I’ve gotten to experience, not only to show how I’ve grown as a journalist, but also to show how much fun it can be. This is only a small glimpse into what I do!

1. Radio (Slides 3 and 5)

One of the things I’m most involved in is radio. I’ve been doing it pretty much since I started, and it’s become such a big part of my life. Two of my favorite experiences were hosting Good Morning FTC, my college’s morning show, on Halloween (slide 3). It was such a fun day, everyone was dressed up, and we had a great discussion about what makes the holiday so special.

Another highlight was putting together a special edition of The Morning Show for Women’s History Month (slide 5). That show meant so much to me and to so many women around the world. Getting to host something that important was incredibly special, and it still means just as much to me even two years later.

2. Press Conferences (Slides 2 and 4)

Some of my favorite memories as a journalist have come from attending press conferences. I’ve been to a few, but my two favorites were actually my first two.

The first (slide 2) was the announcement of the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame exhibit dedicated to Billy Joel. Even though the exhibit wasn’t fully set up yet, there were still some really cool pieces on display.

The second (slide 4) was the press preview night for the exhibit. This time, everything was fully set up, there was food and drinks, and I even got extremely close to meeting Billy Joel. I also got to hear him speak, and he’s not just an incredible musician; he’s also a very thoughtful and well-spoken person.

3. The Great South Bay Music Festival (Slides 7 and 13)

Without a doubt, my favorite thing I get to do each year with Five Towns is the Great South Bay Music Festival. Five Towns has its own stage where we broadcast performances and provide live radio coverage throughout the day.

It’s four days of a lot of hard work, but also four of the most fun days I’ve had. At the 2025 festival, I was lucky enough to get a press pass and interview the lead singer of Head Automatica. I also got to talk with my friends and colleagues about all the different foods at the festival, which was just as fun as it sounds.

This is only a small look into what I do as a journalist. Most of the time, it’s not quite as glamorous as these photos make it seem; it’s a lot of hard work and plenty of late nights. But moments like these make it all worth it.
